The Brief
Working alongside the professional team at Gerald Eve we have been appointed to design and build a new flagship workplace for global energy giant, CNOOC. We worked closely with the CNOOC leadership team to create initial plans for several buildings to help them make an informed decision about their workplace. Through a series of workshops with departments and teams we developed the brief, taking into consideration the different ways of working across teams.
What We Did
Throughout the workplace there are meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, hot offices and agile work stations to enable the team to work collaboratively. There is also a lounge area for informal project work and client meetings. Central to the workplace is The Fuelling station, a full size staff restaurant and breakout area that doubles as an all-hands meeting space. This space provides the team with a designated area to recharge throughout the working day.
CNOOC’s branding is celebrated in the reception area with further subtle nods to throughout the main open-plan areas.
Biophilia is integral to the scheme bringing plant life into the working environment and adding a natural green shade to the natural, neutral colour palette. Access to natural light is a key consideration that fed into the design.
Our furniture consultant assisted CNOOC with the development of a furniture reuse strategy, advising on pieces that could be given new life and suggesting new pieces to tie everything into the style of the new design.
The Results
This modern workplace enables the team to work collaboratively and efficiently. The team has top-of-the-line technology and areas to relax, which helps them to be more effective.
