The Brief
Birketts is a growing, full service, UK top 50 law firm. After a successful project to build a new workplace in Bristol, the Birketts team appointed Blue Jelly to reimagine their existing Cambridge workplace. Their brief was to incorporate the successful design elements from the Bristol project into the existing floorplate at their Cambridge HQ. Including an exceptional client lounge, meeting suite, new open plan areas on the ground and fifth floor and new breakout areas.
What We Did
Working closely with the Birketts Cambridge team, our designers developed a flexible concept that maximises the existing mechanical and electrical infrastructure. Building on the aesthetic we created for the Bristol office, we incorporated a modern palette with acoustic enhancements, bespoke joinery and biophilic features. Existing furniture was given a new lease of life through repurposing and reupholstering, which was supplemented with new pieces as needed.
The Ground Floor reception was reworked as a welcoming client-facing space, anchored by a custom solid surface desk and a striking armourcoated feature wall that highlights the Birketts logo. Warm, comfortable furnishings complete the inviting atmosphere. In the open-plan area, we supported agile working with team booths, focus pods, and meeting rooms. The spacious breakout area caters to a growing team, offering a place to recharge throughout the day. Back-of-house and kitchen areas were equally considered, designed to seamlessly support front-of-house operations and enhance the overall experience for staff and visitors.
The Results
The construction took a multiphase approach, ensuring minimal disruption to the teams’ working patterns and pre-scheduled meetings.
